Graduate Education

While secondary and university education is critical to developing future conservation leaders in Zambia, the abundance and diversity of ongoing ZCP research makes the involvement of graduate students essential. At present, ZCP has its first Zambian graduate students, Dr. Wigganson Matandiko (Montana State University), Jassiel M’soka (Montana State University) and Thandiwe Mweetwa (University of Arizona), as part of its research programme. These students work in each of the three ZCP study sites and are to our knowledge Zambia’s first to conduct graduate research on large carnivores.

Jassiel MsokaSuch strong graduate candidates speak highly of the potential for Zambian students to contribute greatly to conservation research, and we intend for them to be the first in a number of Zambian students to excel through collaboration with ZCP institutions.
